DIY Instagram Frame...

Instagram quickly became my favorite form of social media soon after I started using it, its even helped me get followers to my blog. I've been wanting to make some sort of frame for my photos after discovering the App Printicular. This app allows you to upload prints from your phone and pickup at Walgreens within an hour, and they come in the cute 4x4 size for about 39 cents!

Fresh Watermelon Mimosa...

Yay...its the official start of summer and you know what that means BBQ's, get togethers, or just relaxing in the backyard. I hope you enjoyed your long weekend, ours was spent laying sod for our backyard that we are fixing up, appropriately called the #384yardcrash. Its so exciting to finally have grass, we are caring for it like a newborn! It was lots of hard work, but totally worth it.

I have a quick fabulous drink recipe that can be made with or without the booze. Its great to serve at all your summer festivities or to use up extra watermelon you may have on hand.

What are your go to summer drink recipes?

I'm linking up at The Time To Sparkle link party, HERE. The Inspiration Gallery, HERE. And Best of the Nest, HERE.

Taos, New Mexico

This past weekend I went on a girls road trip with a couple of my favorite people, Jen and Kim. They are some of my Colorado family that you've heard me talk about before. I value their friendship more than words can say, I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! And Happy Birthday, Kim!

We went to Taos, New Mexico which is about 5 hours from us. No kids or guys, just a few great girlfriends having an awesome time. It was my first time traveling through southern Colorado and New Mexico. Let me tell you, its was such a beautiful drive; snow capped mountains, small mountain towns, and nature galore! Here's a small recap to the start of my summer...

South Park, Colorado it actually exists. They are fixing this cute little mountain town up, complete with all your favorite South Park characters placed here and there.

The Collegiate Peaks, this picture doesn't even do them justice. Breathtaking and jaw dropping! Just look at the highway on the bottom right, these mountains are enormous!

We arrived in New Mexico excited for our weekend together! We took many pit stops along the way for photos and sight seeing.

On the way into town we stopped at The Earthship Bioshere, a community made up of homes using recycled items like tires, broken appliances, and glass bottles. It was inspiring to see all these materials that would normally be tossed to the side. Makes me realize I could be doing better for Mother Earth.

This is the backside of one of the homes that they are building, I love the detail in the windows.

Another picture that doesn't do justice, The Royal Gorge. Gave me vertigo to look down, HA!

We stayed at El Pueblo Lodge it sits about 4 blocks from the center of town, a perfect location. The staff was extremely friendly, clean rooms with great beds, and your own private balcony. Would recommend this place again.

The Historic Taos Inn was the place to be on any given night in Taos. Live music 365 nights a year. A good mix of locals and tourists alike.

Check out the Alley Cantina for a locals dance party!

Taos is a very small town rich in history and culture. The downtown area shuts down pretty early, so get out and explore before the sun goes down.

The best part of our trip was to Ojo Caliente. Its about an hours drive from Taos and totally worth it! For $30 entry you get to enjoy all the mineral pools and mud pool all day. Total relaxation here, we were so relaxed I almost felt guilty. The spa offers traditional spa services that would be worth the investment, we opted for soaking only. Make sure you get a Prickly Pear Mimosa at the restaurant, its devine!

The Mud Pool was so cool, I want to do it again!

So much shopping to be done, everything from handmade jewelry, art, pottery, and taxidermy. Something for everyone! Liam really enjoyed the cute little Indian drum I brought home.

It was such a great time and would do it all over again, except for this part...

What can I say, I have a lead foot!

To the nights we won't remember with the friends we'll never forget!

#384yardcrash, the plans...

Hi there! Thanks for all your kind words about #384yardcrash last Thursday. To say we are excited is an understatement, we've been planning it for months. Over the winter our two huge dogs trashed the grass, as you can see in the pictures to follow. Its definitely hard on the ol' eyes.

We are going to lay sod throughout the whole back yard and install a small garden area.

The grill is going to be moved, the pavers and mulch removed. This will be a brand new fire pit area, complete with some seating.

The lilacs will be trimmed back slightly. We are debating painting the fence, possibly white or dark green.

Brandon plans on fixing and moving his DIY pallet doghouse; even adding a new roof for it. And installing a water feature where the doghouse sat before...so excited for that!

The garden area will be in the upper left, right next to the fence.

Updating the lighting is a must, along with some string lights as well.

So much to do, we should start sooner than later!

#384yardcrash

Thank you'll for your input of a new door color yesterday! While we haven't decided what color to choose just yet, we do have an idea. A couple weeks ago I announced on Instagram that we were redoing our backyard. Over the winter the dogs destroyed the grass, so we are going to lay sod, plants some flowers, change out some lighting, and add some furniture.

Brandon and his brother, Brent made a new wood table for us and its amazing! Details and pics coming soon. I made a moodboard on Polyvore of some of the elements that I would like to include, I could spend hours creating rooms and outfits on this site! I'm calling this #384yardcrash, you can follow along here or Instagram

What do you think so far? I'm really excited to get started!

New Door Color...

Since Brandon moved into his house I've been dropping the hint about painting the front door. He's been open to changing it since I moved in. His style is more traditional and conservative and mine is a little out there. I keep saying to him that its only paint, its not permanent. So here are a few pics that really strike my fancy...

I love how rich and classic this blue is, and I'm pretty sure Boo would agree to this.

Isn't this coral dreamy?

I'm leaning towards an Hermes orange...bold and playful.

Bright yellow is one of my favorite colors.

Lime green, so unexpected and very chic.

How pretty is this bright pink? And how out of the question do you think it is, too? A girl can dream right?

All pics are via Pinterest and original source cannot be found.

And THANK YOU to my love for being an amazing support system that encourages me everyday, I love you!

If you are new here you can catch up here, week 1, week 2, week 3, week 4, and week 5.
I decided to redo our bath in the basement, it was neglected for the last year that we have lived here; and just needed some TLC. I decided on a Rustic-Glam take on the bath and couldn't be happier with the results. It was all done on a very small budget, incorporating DIY's and shopping throughout our home. I know you're all about pictures today, so more to come about paint colors, sources, and the budget for everything.

Without further ado...

Next project is our backyard..make sure to follow me on Instagram and Bloglovin for all of our projects!

One Room Challenge...Week 5

Holy moly...week 5, I need to put it into high gear. This past week not much happened in the bathroom, Liam was sick and now I am...totally taking time away for everything. So this next week is going to be a challenge, but I'm all ready.

If you are new here, you can check out Week 1Week 2Week 3, and Week 4. Thanks to Linda over at Calling it Home for hosting this awesome event. Check out all the amazing designers and bloggers participating in the One Room Challenge, its so inspiring.

One change over the week was the lighting, I wanted to change out the old Hollywood light, but found this "refresh" kit from Lowe's. It was only $40 and was a snap to install. I'm actually really happy with it. A quick fix that made a big impact, I think.

I found these candlestick holders at the Goodwill about a year ago, spray painted them gold. Still need to hang them and decide on a place where they will stay.

Cannot wait to hang this beauty over the jetted tub, its going to look amazing!

Need to incorporate this driftwood too.

Still need to make some art, paint the vanity, finish the tray, and style. Wish me luck, I'm going to need it!

One last thing I want to show you, proud mama time...

Ok, back to work I go!
